Fancy some watermelon sorbet to help cool down in this lovely weather and give yourself a nutrient boost at the same time!
Watermelon is packed full of goodness, is low calorie and just bursting with vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E and lycopene. Lycopene is a carotenoid – a powerful antioxidant that gives the watermelon it’s great colour too!
Lycopene is important for heart health, helping to reduce cholesterol, and for male fertility- improving sperm quality and also in hydration. Watermelon is also great in relation to egg quality in women as it contains glutathione, another powerful antioxidant. This lovely fruit is great to reach for after a work out too as it contains the restorative amino acid l-citrulline. Packed with potassium watermelons help regulate nerve function- if you get night time leg cramps reach for a watermelon juice!
Easy to make sorbet
Place cubes of watermelon (half a watermelon approx) of frozen watermelon into a blender with the juice of one lime and 2 spoonfuls of raw honey, blend and freeze.
Enjoy!
