Following a very successful debut last year, Fertility Show Africa (FSA) is set to return to Gauteng later this year for an exciting hybrid event
The two-day expo will take place at the Focus Rooms in Sandton, Johannesburg on October 9 & 10, and will also incorporate a virtual component, thus allowing visitors from around the country, the African continent and the rest of the world to attend and participate.
Says show organiser Heidi Warricker, CEO of Live Events: “This hybrid format will really make the show accessible to all those people struggling to conceive or for those on the journey to parenthood and will give them the opportunity to engage with top fertility specialists in a safe environment.”
The inaugural Fertility Show Africa took place in March 2020 and featured an impressive line-up of expert speakers and some of the world’s leading fertility specialists. The event attracted visitors from the US, UK, Swaziland, India, Uganda, Botswana and Ghana.
“By including an online element, this year’s event will be able to reach and serve many more people, not only due to the fact that people will be able to log in from anywhere in the world, but also because there are some who may prefer to interact with our fertility experts in this manner,” says Warricker.
This year’s key FSA partners include Ferring Pharmaceuticals, which will sponsor the Expert Talks, in association with the Infertility Awareness Association of South Africa (IFAASA) and The South African Society of Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecological Endoscopy (SASREG), as well as the newly added Expert Consultations programme and the Medical Specialists’ Lounge.
Says Gottie Scholtz, Ferring Marketing & Sales Manager, Reproductive Health: “Ferring is proud to support such an important, well-organised patient-information congress. Fertility is an important topic and we are passionate about informing, educating and supporting the public on factors relating to fertility.”
Adds Saskia Williams, CEO of the Infertility Awareness Association of South Africa: “IFAASA is looking forward to being part of the second FSA instalment. We are particularly excited about the new hybrid platform as it focuses on the live experience, making it easier for the right people to connect in person while also expanding to virtually for those who do not wish to attend in-person or who are unable to do so for geographic reasons.”
Clinical psychologist, speaker, author and SASREG board member, Mandy Rodrigues endorses Scholtz and Williams’ word: “SASREG supports events that empower women and men with information on infertility and fertility treatment and we will once again support the Expert Talks programme with leading experts in the field of reproductive medicine to help visitors become informed and educated and to help them on their journey to parenthood.”
Some of the Expert Talks topics for the 2021 show will include a diverse and inclusive range of subjects including: Fertility Treatment in COVID, Eating and Lifestyle for Fertility, Low Dose IVF, Male Infertility, Surrogacy Legalities, Oncofertility, Single Parenting Options, HIV Positive Surrogacy and many more.
Last year’s Fertility Show Africa – which was opened by Gauteng MEC for Health Dr Bandile Masuku – was a resounding success with capacity crowds visiting the first fertility show to be held on the African continent. Masuku called it “a milestone and ground-breaking event” for South Africa and the African continent and the event also had the support of the US’s first IVF baby Elizabeth Carr who was born in 1981.
The Fertility Show Africa 2021 will take place on October 9 & 10 at the Focus Rooms, Sandton, Johannesburg and online
