Supercharge your day with this gorgeous smoothie packed full of healthy vitamins and minerals to help you feel energised and help you cope with the stresses of the day.
Pineapple – a favourite fruit when it comes to fertility providing a good amount of the powerful antioxidant vitamin C and a are good source of iodine too. Pineapples contain the anti-inflammatory enzyme Bromelain important for conditions such as Endometriosis. Bromelain also has an anticoagulant effect – so great for blood flow.
Strawberries– possess both antioxidant and anti- inflammatory properties, both of which are important when it comes to health and fertility. Their seeds contain omega 3 and they are packed full of vitamin c and folate.
Pomegranate seeds -one of the oldest fruits which has been a symbol of health and fertility for centuries. Pomegranates are an excellent source of flavonoids and polyphenols. They also contain vitamin C, vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid) and folate, along with, vitamin A, vitamin E, zinc and fibre. In relation to fertility, pomegranates possess anti-inflammatory properties. They are also thought to support fertility by helping balance hormones and increasing blood flow to the uterus. Pomegranate is rich in zinc- this has been shown to increase sperm count and sperm quality – both are important for successful conception.
How to make your smoothie (makes 2)
• 8oz strawberries, hulled
• 8oz Pineapple chunks
• ½ Pomegranate – seeds only
• 150ml Milk of your choice (full fat)
• 4 tbsp Natural yoghurt (live)
• 3-4 mint leaves (optional – but tasty!)
Combine all ingredients together in a blender – pour over crushed ice. Enjoy!
