US actress Zoey Deutch has revealed she got her friends fertility tests as Christmas presents
The 26-year-old daughter of film directors, Howard Deutch and Lea Thompson told Vanity Fair it was the best present she could have given them.
She has just been announced as the newest investor in Modern Fertility, a US start-up that aims to create a patient-centric model of care.
The company, which launched in 2017, offers a range of fertility services, including prenatal vitamins to affordable pregnancy and ovulation tests.
Zoey, who has starred in films such as Set It Up Harper and Everybody Wants Some!!, is one of several well-known actresses who has invested in the company, others include Reese Witherspoon, Natalie Portman, and model Ashley Graham, who is expecting her second child.
The actress happily handed out the company’s flagship product to her friends, an at-home hormone assessment launched in 2018.
Zoey said: “Hormones are like fertility detectives that give us a clue about our reproductive timeline.
“The test is a straightforward panel of up to seven different hormones including estradiol, thyroid-stimulating hormone, and anti-Mullerian hormone(AMH), which is an indicator of ovarian reserve.”

Afton suffered from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome(PCOS) and the company was born from the test that she had to discover a diagnosis.
The pair wanted to offer women the opportunity to know their fertility health even if they might not be wanting children at the time.
Afton said: “I got so many questions from investors, asking me ‘Wait, you want to create a company for people that aren’t trying to get pregnant? What is this’?’”
It was then that Deutch heard about the pair and decided she wanted to know more.
She said: “When it’s something as fundamental as the things that keep the human race alive, why is that an uncomfortable subject?”
New York-based model Ashley Graham said she is thankful for this sort of resource.
She said: “I’m so thankful I became a mother when women-led resources like this were available. Women’s health can be a taboo subject, and there can often be feelings of shame around what our bodies can and cannot do or feelings of uncertainty about asking for help.”
Zoey concludes: “Every woman should have the choice of information. Knowledge is power.”
