Researchers have discovered the top two traits women want from their sperm donor in a new study carried out of more than 1,000 women
The ‘What Women Want In Their Sperm Donor’ study, which was published in the journal Economics and Human Biology, showed that in years gone by, women might have wanted tall, dark, and handsome, now they are more likely to want young, educated donors
Researchers at the University of Queensland in Australia looked at responses from 1, 546 women when deciding on their choice of sperm donor between 2006 and 2015 at a private fertility clinic.
They found that the two most important factors when picking a donor were the age and education level of the donor
Study co-author, Stephen White, said: “Many women have more freedom than ever before when it comes to choosing who fathers their offspring, and what we found is that younger and more highly-educated sperm donors are snapped up much faster.
“In most developed countries, women (and men) with fertility problems, single women and lesbians, are all now able to freely access sperm from sperm banks and reproductive health facilities for insemination.
“Women are theoretically no longer bound by the constraints of proximity, social class, culture, or race when choosing a male to mate with.”
