Add some sparkle to your Guacamole! Simply sprinkle in some pomegranate seeds and reap the amazing nutritional benefits.
Pomegranates are nutrient-dense and rich in antioxidants, containing up to three times the antioxidant content of green tea or red wine. Antioxidants help to protect cells (including egg and sperm cells) from damage, reduce inflammation, and slow down the ageing process. Punicalagins (found only in pomegranates) are special compounds that have been linked to supporting the immune system.
Avocados are fantastic! They contain over twenty vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients, including vitamins B, C, and E, and help regulate hormones. They also contain beneficial fats including oleic acid and alpha-linolenic (an omega 3 fatty acid) and are high in magnesium, which is known as the ‘happy mineral’ – aiding sleep aswell as helping reduce stress and anxiety.
How to make your Sparkly Guacamole (serves 4)
Mash up 3 ripe avocados (skin and stone removed) using a fork and combine with a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, 2-3 cloves of crushed garlic and a finely chopped chilli (optional). Sprinkle with the seeds of a fresh pomegranate and combine! Enjoy as a dip with crudites of your choice.
