Moon milk is a soothing and tasty warm drink that has its roots in Ayurvedic traditions. Ayurveda is Sanskrit word that translates to ‘knowledge of life’. It is based on the mind-body connection. In Ayurveda, warm milk consumed before bed is a common remedy for sleeplessness, anxiety and insomnia. A variety of ingredients can be used to make this delicious milk and when combined with an adaptogenic herb such as Ashwagandha it can help eliminate stress and promote sleep.
Ingredients:
250ml of milk of your choice
¼ teaspoon ground ashwagandha
1 teaspoon honey
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
Pinch of ground ginger
Pinch of ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon coconut oil or ghee
1 teaspoon honey
Pour the milk into a saucepan and heat gently on medium heat. Stir in the ashwagandha cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, and nutmeg, continually stirring. Next, add the coconut oil, and turn the heat to low, for around 5 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. Stir in honey and give it a stir. Pour into a favorite mug and enjoy.
