Are you experiencing bloating or constipation as a result of the hormones used in IVF cycles? While there isn’t much that can be done to lessen this because the medication must be continued into the pregnancy, there are a few things to keep in mind to help reduce bloating during the two- week wait, one of which is being mindful of what you eat. Did you know that consuming certain some foods may help you to feel less bloated? Celery is a good of example of one such vegetable that may well help.
Celery is a member of the carrot family has been found to help benefit digestion and help to reduce bloating due to possessing a high water and fibre content. Celery contains up to 95% water and a good amount of both soluble and insoluble fibre – supporting the microbiome, regulating water levels and helping to prevent constipation.
In addition, Celery contains a plant compound called Apigenin, which has been found to possess anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral properties…great for supporting the immune system this winter. It is fantastic for hydration, low in calories, helps to lower blood pressure, good for the skin, hair and bones and is a great source of several B vitamins- including folate, vitamin c, potassium and calcium.
To benefit from all of the amazing nutritional properties to be obtained from celery try to choose organic wherever possible.
