Sweet tooth but trying to be good/watching your weight? Here is a quick easy fix for you! Why not dip your strawberries into some dark chocolate and enjoy as a snack or dessert (the chocolate needs to contain over 70% cocoa solids though to reap the benefits!)
Strawberries are rich in vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, important for supporting the immune system, in skin health, blood vessel strengthening, heart health, and for fertility. One portion a day contains the entire recommended daily amount of vitamin C for an adult along with being a good source of fibre, potassium and folate. Dark chocolate contains flavonoids (antioxidants), magnesium and iron too. The more cocoa solids contained in the chocolate the greater the antioxidant and mineral content! Procyanidins are produced in the chocolate-making process which have an anti-inflammatory action. …. so more good news! Enjoy – but only a couple of squares!!!
Berries with chocolate sauce
Ingredients:
• 12 fresh strawberries
• 6oz organic dark chocolate
Melt the chocolate in a bowl placed on top of a pan of simmering water on the hob. Give a good stir and allow to cool a little. Dip the strawberries (make sure they are washed) into the chocolate, place onto a plate and enjoy or place into the fridge and enjoy later.
