A Lanarkshire man has praised his personal trainer for helping him to improve his fertility
Jason Griffin told the Daily Record he has seen his sperm count increase five-fold and now hopes that he and his wife, 39, can conceive through IVF in the coming months.
Jason has been on a health and fitness regime for several months now and he now hopes to raise awareness of male fertility issues.
He has been training with Personal Trainer(PT) Barry Martin in Strathaven and has seen his sperm count go from 15 million to 77 million.
The 35-year-old said: “Going through IVF, we’re always looking at ways to make it more successful.
“One of the biggest ones was fitness, BMI and just trying to be healthier.
Jason had just broken his leg playing five-a-side and was concerned his fitness was decreasing.
Jason said: “I went to Barry for help after it was revealed in our IVF fertility tests that my sperm count was low.
“But after four or five months of working with Barry, we went back and were surprised it had risen to 77 million.
“So, it’s shown that it is not just benefited visually but with bodily function as well.
“Hopefully, it will make IVF more successful.”
The couple is currently on the two-week wait and is keeping their fingers crossed that this IVF round will be more successful.
Barry said: “Jason came to me in September after his broken fibula and was just off his crutches.
“The focus of the training was to rebuild his leg and give him some more strength and mobility.
“As a side effect of his good progress, it’s helped his IVF progress as they’re trying for a child.
“So, now hopefully they can have a baby at the end of this. It’s been a real success story for us.
“It’s quite touching for us to see the impact the work has had on Jason and Kate.”
