US reality television star Whitney Port has opened up about starting her fertility journey with egg retrieval
The 36-year-old has suffered three devastating miscarriages and shared how tough she was finding the IVF process.
The Hills star told her fans earlier this year that she was considering consulting a fertility expert.
In an image posted on Instagram of her marking Valentine’s Day, she said she was finding the hormone treatment for egg retrieval.
Whitney, who married Tim Resonman in 2015, said in her stories: “After my first consultation with Dr Huang, I ended up starting the process for egg retrieval five days later. All the timings worked out and since then everything has progressed pretty quickly. I’m on day six of the hormones – menopur and gonal.
“Timmy has been given the injections every night like a champ. On the fourth night, I got hit with a pretty hefty surge of emotions and then on Sunday, I had the emotional hangover. Today, I felt more rested, and not entirely myself. Trying to be mindful of how I react to things during this time. It looks like egg retrieval will be at this weekend at some point.”
The couple has a son, five-year-old Sonny, who is their pride and joy.
She also asked her 1.5 million followers if they would be interested in her doing a Q&A about their fertility journey, which got a resounding yes from many.
During that Q&A she was asked about whether she was considering IVF.
She said: “Someone asked me if I feel strongly that we are missing another member of the family or if we would be okay with one.
“We are considering all of it at this point but also feel almost complete with Sonny.
“We want Sonny to have sibling but we are not going to sacrifice our whole happiness to have it.”
She will document her fertility journey and we will be following her progress
