Australian actress Rebel Wilson has said she is considering using a sperm donor and gaining the help of a surrogate to become a mother
The 42-year-old told People magazine that she was going it alone due to her biological clock and said if she met someone, they would have to figure it out together.
The Pitch Perfect star, who recently lost five stone, said: “It wasn’t a goal to a certain weight. It was just about being the healthiest version of myself. It was about dealing with the emotional issues that caused me to eat emotionally, and that’s a process.
“It’s tough to know why you don’t feel worthy when people look at my life on paper and say you’ve done. That’s what I am trying to overcome.”
Rebel, who was born in Sydney, has long been open about her desire to become a mother and documented her 2020 year of health via her Instagram account.
She focused on hiking and healthy eating throughout that time and the results were a testament to her dedication to becoming healthier and fitter.
Rebel is believed to have been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS). She was given a rude awakening following a visit to a fertility doctor in 2019 who told her she would need to live a much healthier lifestyle and lose weight to harvest any decent eggs to freeze.
She said: “I thought he was rude, but he was right. I was carrying around a lot of excess weight. It’s almost like I didn’t think of my own needs. I thought of a future child’s needs that really inspired me to get healthier.”
Rebel said she partakes of a high-protein eating lifestyle and that nothing is off-limits and it is all about finding a balance.
She said her mantra is ‘nothing is forbidden’.
When discussing surrogacy and sperm donors, she said: “It’s great that the technology exists. You have so many options with surrogacy and sperm donors. I only started thinking about my fertility at the age of 39 so you feel quite late but then there are women in their mid-forties who’ve been successful. Look at Janet Jackson, it’s pretty inspiring.”
