When Sophie Bennett joined a slimming club in Plymouth little did she imagine she would meet a woman and agree to carry her child
The 34-year-old met Hayley Roberts at Slimming World and Hayley told her that she had been going through IVF and that she and her husband, Gareth, were looking for a surrogate to carry the embryos.
The couple had already created five embryos from their IVF treatment.
She told Plymouth Live: “I love being a mum, it is the best job in the world.”
She said she had always wanted to be a surrogate but she had not met anyone before she had wanted to help.
After extensive research, she decided she would like to help Hayley and Gareth.
She said: “I will have one of the embryos in my womb and carry it, as Hayley is unable to.
“It’s not my baby. I’m just growing it for nine months. I will be the host of their embryo.”
The couple and Sophie signed contracts recently.
She will now undergo blood tests and begin medication to thicken the lining of her womb.
After that, the next step will be to have the embryo implanted.
The trio hopes to be pregnant this year and have the baby next year.
