Kyle Gordy has fathered 58 children across the globe as a sperm donor
A staggering number of children, but he is not about to go into retirement. In fact, the Californian native has recently travelled to New Zealand to help whoever needs him to become a parent.
The 30-year-old, who has never had a long-term relationship, has been donating sperm since his early 20s and uses social media to communicate with potential recipients, and said he has regular STD tests to make sure he is as healthy as he can be.
His method has been labelled ‘unsafe’ by a New Zealand fertility clinic, something Kyle disagrees with.
He said he believes many clinics and sperm banks are only about making money, whereas he is providing a free service, with a few travel perks.
He told the New Zealand Herald: “I realised that doing this was probably the only way I could have children of my own and I thought it was more ethical than a sperm bank because at a sperm bank you don’t really know who you are going to get your sperm from.”
He said he didn’t believe that 58 children were that many spread across the world
He said: “A lot of people are going to say, well that’s a lot of children. Maybe, but the children are spread out throughout the entire world. There are no children that are really close, I mean there are a couple that is maybe within 15 to 20 miles, but I have a little chat group with all the mums, so the mums all know each other and keep in contact.”
He said he was only planning on getting one or two women pregnant in New Zealand and decided to come to the country as he heard about the three-year waitlist for sperm donors.
He said: “That is absurd. I’ve always wanted to visit New Zealand. So, if I can help out people in the same timeframe as me going to travel and sightsee, then I don’t see an issue with it.”
Incredibly, Kyle is a donor-conceived and only found out after he questioned his mother about not looking like his father.
His mother contacted the fertility clinic she used for the donation but was told the donor wanted to remain anonymous.

Andrew Murray, group medical director for Fertility Associates said what Kyle was doing was dangerous.
He said: “It’s really unsafe what Kyle is proposing to do. The thing that really worries me is that it’s not in the best interests of the two most important people – the child who may come from this and the woman who may choose his sperm.
“From the children’s point of view, no one wants to have 40-plus siblings. How many more might come from his practises?
