Olympic boxing champion Nicola Adams and her partner, Ella Baig, have welcomed a baby boy via IVF after a four-year journey
The couple welcomed the baby in early July and the 24-year-old model took to social media to thank her followers for their amazing comments.
The couple has been trying for a baby for three years.
Nicola had already frozen her eggs on advice earlier in her career, so the pair used her eggs, and Ella wanted to carry the baby.
Sadly, the couple has experienced two miscarriages in previous cycles and Nicola told British Vogue in an interview that it had devastated them.
She said: “I was really upset. Of course, we knew that there was a chance of it being successful, but it’s hard to see those two lines on a pregnancy test and feel elated before having that ripped from you just a few weeks later.
“I was also more upset for Ella as she was the one going through the process physically. You don’t really know what to say or do – you just have to be supportive.”
Ella appeared in good spirits when she told her 26,000 Instagram followers: “Thank you all for your kind words! I will get back to everyone in time, I’m just trying to stay as present as possible at this moment and give my baby as much attention as I possibly can.”
The pair said in a joint post: “We are so excited to have welcomed our son into the world on Saturday morning at around 7 am. Nothing prepares you for this moment in life but I am so overwhelmed with love and proud of Ella. we can’t wait to start this new chapter with baby Adams.”
