Dancing with the Stars professional Peta Murgatroyd has opened up about her fertility journey to have a second child with her husband, Maksim Chmerkovskiy
The 36-year-old New Zealand-born dancer, who is based in the US, revealed all to her 932,000 Instagram followers that she was finding the IVF process difficult – in particular the daily injections.
She said as she prepared to start her first course of progesterone injections: “Of course, it’s the hardest at the end, right? To get what you want, to get that beautiful baby.
“I looked at the injections and I was like, ‘Holy crap!’”
She explained that she was nervous about injecting and her nurse suggested Maksim get involved in the process.
The Latin professional dancer already has one son, Shai, whom she shares with Maksim, 42, but she is keen to have ‘at least four more babies’.
She said: “He is my everything. I look at him and want four more babies.”
She also took the time to thank all her fans for their amazing IVF tips. One in particular about heating the needle and icing her bottom was a winner.
She said: “I put the syringe in a heating pad and iced my butt, and it worked. Maks helped to push it in, and phew, thank you, thank you. I’m seriously choking up because it helped me so much.”
Peta and Maksim married in 2017 and have been trying to have more children since the birth of Shai. Sadly, they have experienced several miscarriages over the past three years which is the reason they have begun fertility treatment.
She said she was sharing her journey in the hope that it might help others on a similar path.
