When we were going through infertility treatment, no idea or concept was off the table: acupuncture, herbal remedies, crystals, anything that might give us a better chance of seeing that longed-for double pink line

But one concept we knew nothing about was that of a fertility psychic, but this is precisely what Gemma Martin does – with a lot of success.

The 31-year-old earns about £10,000 a month predicting when a woman will conceive and the baby’s gender.

Gemma began her successful career after seeking the services of another psychic who told her when she would fall and the sex of her daughter, three-year-old, Abigail.

She learned to read tarot cards and, at first, did it as a hobby until it became more popular and launched her own business in 2019, according to an interview with Yahoo!

Gemma, from Dundee, said: “I predict when people will have a baby, and most of the time I am spot on.

“I might be a few days out but the number of responses I get saying ‘I fell pregnant when you said I would’ is so lovely.

“I had a reading which predicted I would fall pregnant in June 2018 and after 18 months of trying – and I did.

“I found it so fascinating, so I wanted to learn how to do it and help other people.

“I didn’t expect it to ever become my full-time job and be so popular.”

As a sociologist, I have been doing research with LGBTQ+ families in the UK, US and Europe for almost a decade and a half now. To further the cause of reproductive justice, I have also been using my research for the benefit of LGBTQ+ families as well as people who help them have children, such as surrogates, donors and others. I am a senior research associate in the Reproductive Sociology Research Group at the University of Cambridge, where I have been since 2016, following my postdoc research at UC Berkeley and PhD at the University of Barcelona.
