US reality television star Kourtney Kardashian Barker and her new husband Travis have explained why they have put a hold on their journey to have children together, and we can completely relate
Anyone who has been through an IVF cycle will know that it can be a tough road to get that dream, particularly on the body but even more so on your mental health.
The 43-year-old told US media outlets that she had stopped their IVF journey for now.
She told the Wall Street Journal Magazine: “We started an IVF journey. But I stopped. It was a lot. I took a break to just focus on the wedding and get married.”
The couple documented their fertility journey on their new reality television show The Kardashians on Hulu.
It showed them visiting a Californian fertility clinic and Kourtney injecting herself with the hormones, having scans, and then collecting her eggs.
She reportedly experienced severe side effects from the hormones and got depressed from the amount of social media comments on whether or not she was pregnant.
She said: “The medication they gave me put me into menopause. The medicine basically put me into depression.
“Because I am so clean and careful about what I put into my body, it’s just having the complete opposite reaction and is working as a contraceptive instead of helping us.”
She did not say whether they will try again. But we certainly know how she feels and can understand her reasoning.
