US Bachelor’s Sarah Herron reveals IVF pregnancy

US television personality Sarah Herron has revealed she is pregnant with a baby boy after an embryo transfer with fiance Dylan Brown

Sarah, 35, took to Instagram to tell her 300,000 followers of their wonderful news.

The Colorado native, who appeared on season 17 of the Bachelor and series one and two of Bachelor in Paradise, said she could not keep the news a secret anymore – and also revealed she had broken her knee while walking her beloved dog just days before.

She said: “We can’t keep a secret any longer. Our embryo transfer was a success and I am pregnant with our baby boy! Our little five-day embryo nestled in comfortably and is measuring in at seven weeks old today.

“As you may have suspected, we received our first positive HCG test within hours of me breaking my knee. Two days later, my betas doubled, and this week we saw our baby’s heartbeat flicker for the first time.”

Sarah said the feeling was ‘surreal’ and she has had to spend nearly four weeks on bed rest.

She said: “I’ve been nourishing myself and putting all my energy into growing bones and organs. I believe these two events coincided for a reason and though it was excruciating, it turned into a miraculous path that I know I needed to take.

“The road ahead is long and I know we’ll be holding our breath until the day our baby is earthside with us.”

She also addressed how others going through their own fertility journey and what impact it would have on their mental health.

She said: “I’ve dreamt of the day that I could share this news, and at the same time, I’ve dreaded how I would word it. To the women and families amidst their fertility challenges; please know that I share this news with the most gentle intention. Whatever feelings come up, or space you need from my account is valid and respected. My heart belongs to all of you today. We are all warriors, and I am still in it with you. I hope this lessens the sting, though I understand it may not.”

Sarah has been open about her fertility on her socials and has regularly posted about what the couple has been through.

As a sociologist, I have been doing research with LGBTQ+ families in the UK, US and Europe for almost a decade and a half now. To further the cause of reproductive justice, I have also been using my research for the benefit of LGBTQ+ families as well as people who help them have children, such as surrogates, donors and others. I am a senior research associate in the Reproductive Sociology Research Group at the University of Cambridge, where I have been since 2016, following my postdoc research at UC Berkeley and PhD at the University of Barcelona. I’m Jodie and I am a Health Sciences Research PhD student that is focussed on Health-Related Quality of Life in people with Endometriosis (crazy I know right) and founder of the charity Endometriosis South Coast.

In 2014 at the ripe old age of 30 after spending the entirety of my adulthood as a chef, I drunkenly applied for university because Endometriosis changed my life. I couldn’t work, I was a single mum. And quite honestly, I was at the lowest I had ever been with depression eating at my very core.

I am researching how Health Related Quality of Life differs in a range of sample groups of Endometriosis patients.

Caroline worked as a secondary school drama teacher for 9 years. During a period of three years, she went through fertility treatment before becoming a mother to her son.
