High street retailer Superdrug has launched a fertility check for men that will cost in the region of £150
The test will mean men who are keen to know the potency of their sperm can order a kit to be delivered to their home and then collected by courier service to be tested at a laboratory.
Doctors will look at the quality and quantity – and most importantly – the motility of the sperm.
According to the Daily Mail, the results will be available within 48 hours, and men are able to gain access to the high street retailer’s doctors to ask any questions they may have.
The test costs £148 online and is not available in-store.
Superdrug said the test – the first of its kind available on the high street – will help men easily access information about their fertility health and take greater control of their reproductive health.
Depending on the results of the test, men can access Superdrug’s medical team who can offer advice and support on the next steps, should the results be abnormal.
Dr Babak Ashrafi, one of Superdrug’s online doctors, noted that the NHS advises people to try to conceive for a year before going to their GP.
He said: “A year can make a difference to fertility levels so the sooner you know, the sooner you can act.
“This is a discreet and convenient service and for people trying to conceive, these test results may help provide answers and signpost them in the right direction.”
