Alec Baldwin’s wife Hilaria Baldwin has opened up about having their sixth child via surrogate
The 38-year-old spoke candidly about her surrogacy journey on the latest episode of her podcast, Witches Anonymous, which she hosts with Michelle Campbell Mason.
The co-founder of Yoga Vida studios said in an Instagram post plugging the episode that she was happy to talk about the process of having her daughter, nicknamed Marilu, and felt open to answering all the weird and wonderful questions people had on her conception and entrance into this world.
Alec and Hilaria have seven children together, and Alec has a daughter, Ireland, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
The couple has been very vocal about their relationship and having children, and their life is documented on their social media pages.
Hilaria is believed to have turned to surrogacy following two heartbreaking late miscarriages.
She told her 980,000 followers: “Some of the best advice I was given when considering surrogacy was to be open and talk about it. ‘People stop talking about things they are ashamed of…and this is a beautiful journey where many people work so hard to bring a soul into the world.’
“When Marilú was born, I didn’t feel that the world was a safe place for me to share. So many opinions and articles questioning her existence brought me to tears at a time when I was overjoyed with the birth of my daughter. Nearly two years later, I’ve done a lot of healing work and am committed to speaking up, sharing our beautiful story, and fighting ignorance.
“There are some that are committed to misunderstanding, there are those who choose to judge if they don’t get it, and there are those who are afraid to ask because they know our world is shut down by fear of saying the wrong thing and offending, and then there are those who welcome love in all its different shapes and sizes.
“You won’t offend me with your questions so bring them. The most common are: do I feel the same way about her that I do my other children? Do my kids treat her differently? Did the woman who carried her feel that she was her child? Am I friends with the woman who carried her? Tune in while @therealstaffordand @michellecampbell and I share our IVF and surrogacy journeys.
“There are both laughs and tears in our coven. There was so much more I wanted to say…it’s the story of my daughter’s birth, and it was such a beautiful one. Marilú, you belong, just as you are. I’m so proud and grateful for our journey and for being your mama.”
