A couple from Swaffham, in Norfolk, are looking forward to spending Christmas with their miracle baby after spending years trying for a baby
Kirsty and Harry Brown welcomed their son, Robin, in August after having IVF to conceive due to fertility issues.
On Christmas Day last year, Kirsty put a wish on a Christmas tree hoping for a miracle – and eight months later she got her wish.
She told Lynn News: “He has gone from being a tiny embryo frozen for three months to being transferred to me and growing into a little human.
“He has given us so much joy and love.”
The couple married in 2018 and started trying for a family straight away. But with irregular cycles, Kirsty knew it might be a struggle.
She was referred to Bourne Hall, in Cambridgeshire and investigations began.
It was discovered that Kirsty did not ovulate and Harry had a low-quality sperm and low count.
Kirsty said: “I will never forget the moment we were told IVF was likely our only hope. To imagine a life without children was something we had never envisaged.
“On December 10 we saw those two blue lines for the first time and we shall never forget that day. The support we received was nothing short of exceptional. We always felt listened to and that our choices were respected.”
Chief executive and medical director of Bourn Hall, Dr Thanos Papathanasiou, said: “Christmas is all about families, and at Bourn Hall, we understand that it can be a particularly difficult time for those who are struggling to conceive.
“It is always nice to deliver good news in time for Christmas and in 2023 we look forward to welcoming more patients hoping to start a family.”
