UK celebrity chef Melissa Hemsley has revealed she got pregnant after her first round of IVF
The 37-year-old was talking to Lorraine Kelly on the sofa about her pregnancy and said she had multiple miscarriages before going down the assisted reproductive route.
She told Lorraine: “I feel like I’m dreaming. It’s lovely to be with you and talk about the process of making a baby.
“They say it can take a village to raise a baby, but I didn’t realise it can take a village to make one.”
Melissa suffered two miscarriages in 2021 within a few months of each other.
She said she often wondered when it would be her turn after watching her sister, and business partner, Jasmine, welcome her second child in 2021.
After the heartbreaking miscarriages, Melissa and her partner Henry Relph went through IVF at the end of last year.
She fell pregnant on her first round.
She said of the support she had received since opening up about her journey: “I’ve had so much support, shoulders to cry on, medical support, and emotional support.
“I understand from reading other journeys, ours hasn’t been that long in the process.
“First round worked for us, which I am so thankful for. I wasn’t expecting it”
Melissa has been documenting her journey to motherhood on her Instagram account to her 210,000 followers.
She set up a food blog with her sister entitled Hemsley + Hemsley to help people form positive relationships with food.
The venture led to a best-selling book and appearances on national television as a celebrity chef.
